Blue Angel - Holacanthus isabelita Maximum Size: the Holacanthus isabelita grows up to 15 inches. General Size Specifications: small 2 to 3; inches; medium 3 to 4; inches; large 5 to 7 inches; XL 7 to 10 inches. Sizes may vary slightly due to availability. Minimum Tank Size: The Blue Angel prefers a tank of at least 150 gallons with plenty of places to hide & swim. Diet: The Holacanthus isabelita is a omnivore and likes to eat Omnivore. Primarily Sponges but will also feed on Algae, and Sessile Invertebrates. It should be offered a captive diet high in protein, with Sponge material i.e. Ocean Nutrition Angel Formula. Level of Care: The Blue Angel is a high maintenance fish. Behavior: The Blue Angel may act semi-aggressively toward other fish. Hardiness: This is a fairly hardy fish. Water Conditions: Keep water quality high (SG 1.020 - 1.025, pH 8.1 - 8.4, Temp. 72 - 78° F). Range: Caribbean, North Carolina, Southern Florida, to Western Gulf of Mexico, south to the Yucatan Peninsula. General Notes: Another strikingly colored Angel, the Majestic Angel is a relatively shy and timid fish that needs a lot of various hiding places. Due to the needs of this Angel, it is far better to get either a Juvenile or a small specimen, and keep them in a tank full of Live rock or in a larger Reef type tank. A popular species with Aquarist, the Blue Angel is also one of the hardier species of full sized Angels. Being highly territorial, it is not a good candidate to mix this Angel with other Angels, except in very large Aquaria. The Blue Angel sometimes will hybridize with its close cousin the Queen Angel, which is also found in the Blue Angels range, but is also found further south to Brazil, and the Caribbean.
