Type of hard coral: Small polyp stony coral (SPS). Diet: Planktivore. Feeding: It likes to eat Filter feeding invert food only. Behavior: The Hydnophora species is generally aggressive toward other tankmates. Care: Many consider the Hydnophora species a high-maintenance specimen. Lighting: Has strong lighting needs.Symbiotic algae zooxanthellae are hosted within this organism. Water flow: The Green Horn Flourescent Coral, Branch Coral, Knob Coral, Horn Coral requires strong water flow. General notes: The Hydnophora is an SPS Coral that is often though of as an Acropora because of it`s branching appearance but are not really related. Often thought of as an aggressive coral, it will kill most corals it comes in close contact with it. This is a difficult coral to maintain but will do well in a reef setting providing pristine water quality is kept. The coral requires moderate water movement and very strong lighting.
