General Size Specifications: Minimum Tank Size: The Chalk Basslet prefers a tank of at least 20 gallons with plenty of places to hide & swim. Diet: The Serranus tortugarum is a planktivore and likes to eat mysid shrimp, and other fresh or frozen seafoods.. Level of Care: The Chalk Basslet is a low maintenance fish. Behavior: The Chalk Basslet may act peacefully toward other fish. Hardiness: This is a hardy fish. Water Conditions: Keep water quality high (SG 1.020 - 1.025, pH 8.1 - 8.4, Temp. 72 - 78° F). Range: Caribbean. General Notes: The Chalk Bass is a beautiful species that always make for a nice addition to either a fish only tank or a reef type set up. Will hide in cliffs and overhangs of the rock structure, upside down, so do not become alarmed if it swims this way.
