Color: The Porites Coral(Assorted) has a yellow, tan, green, brown, cream color.
Type of hard coral: Small polyp stony coral (SPS).
Diet: Planktivore.
Feeding: It likes to eat Filter feeding invert food only.
Behavior: The Porites species is generally peaceful toward other tankmates.Care: Many consider the Porites species a high-maintenance specimen.
Lighting: Has strong lighting needs.Symbiotic algae zooxanthellae are hosted within this organism.
Water flow: The Finger Coral, Honeycomb Coral, Jeweled Coral requires strong water flow.
General notes: The Porites coral is one of the more peaceful of the SPS or Small Polyp Stony Corals. This attractive coral is found in many shapes and colors. The yellow branch being the most popular. Extends polyps and has a very fuzzy appearance. Can be placed closer to other corals providing they are equally peaceful. Requires high light and strong water movment. As with all SPS corals, calcium levels will need to be maintained to encourage growth and health of coral.
Water parameters: Keep water quality high (SG 1.023 - 1.025, pH 8.1 - 8.4, Temp. 72 - 78° F).
Origin: The Porites Coral(Assorted) is commonly collected from Fiji.
