Comments: My tessalata is about 8 years old now. 16 inches when we brought him home, he is now about 5 feet long and about 4 inches in diameter. They do require quite a bit of room once full grown, but this one did fine in a 150 for most of its life (we now have a 600 gallon custom setup with 5 inch eel caves just for this fellow). These eels love salmon and will stay full on a 2" x 5" pece for at least a week. Mussels are also favorites. Freeze green mussels and remove them from the shell partially thawed and you won't have parasites or a mess to deal with. Mine will only eat if I dangle the food in the water and
