Port Jackson Shark - Heterodontus portusjacksoni
Maximum Size: the Heterodontus portusjacksoni grows up to 66 inches.
General Size Specifications: This fish will come to you generally 12 - 18 inches in size
Minimum Tank Size: The Port Jackson Shark prefers a tank of at least 1000 gallons with a sand substrate and rock work including caves and overhangs.
Diet: The Heterodontus portusjacksoni is a carnivore and likes to eat variety of chopped crustaceans, shrimp, squid and shellfish.
Level of Care: The Port Jackson is a high maintenance fish and may not take to processed or frozen foods
Behavior: The Port Jackson Shark feeds mainly at dusk and night. It is not particularly aggressive towards fish or other sharks but will consume any crustaceans available. The Port Jackson has one spine on each of its two dorsal fins which are reputed to be poisonous.
